CORE VALUES

What We Value

The way we work is as important as what we build. These values guide every decision, system, and deployment.

Ground Truth

We work on-site, shoulder to shoulder with the people who run the systems. That’s how we understand the real bottlenecks, earn trust, and build solutions that actually deliver.

Dimitar is a robotics engineer with deep roots in mechanical design, control theory and precision manufacturing.

With degrees in Mechanical Engineering (TU Berlin) and Mechatronics & Robotics (TU Munich), he’s spent the last decade designing automation solutions across some of the most advanced industrial environments — from BMW’s driving simulators to next-gen autonomous forklifts and robotic CNC systems.

His strength is bridging the gap between software and hardware. He’s skilled in manufacturing technologies, motion planning, robotic cell design and control systems, and uses that experience to help hardware teams turn production challenges into scalable solutions.

Today, Dimitar leads DHR Engineering — a growing team that builds automation systems for hardware companies. Their work includes autonomous diamond drill rigs, CNC machine tending, autonomous 3D printing farms and custom robotic cells built around specific production needs. His approach is hands-on, fast-moving, and focused on making sure systems work reliably where it matters most: on the factory floor.

FAQ

We’ve gathered all the important info right here. Explore our FAQs and find the answers you need, or drop us a line.

What does DHR Engineering specialize in?

DHR Engineering is a custom industrial automation integrator proven in solving complex manufacturing challenges. We specialize in end-to-end CNC and CMM automation, additive manufacturing automation, and proprietary manufacturing execution systems (MES). Our team covers mechanical design, electrical engineering, control systems, and orchestration software, all developed in-house.

Do you work with early-stage startups or established manufacturers?

Both. DHR Engineering works with hardware startups building their first automated cell, and with established manufacturers adding capacity to existing factories. Our goal is to help you break through labor ceilings and eliminate costly downtime, ensuring your production scales smoothly without being held back by manual limitations.

Can you build custom automation for my specific use case?

Yes. Every cell is designed around your products, machines, and floor layout. Once the first cell works, we scale by replicating it rather than by designing something new each time. We call the repeatable version an atomic unit, sized so one robot stays near full utilization. It's a smart, scalable approach built to grow with you.

What industries do you work with?

We automate machine tending and post-processing workflows for aerospace and defense hardware production, dental and medical appliances, consumer goods, and corporate R&D groups. These sectors share precision parts, tight tolerances, and manual production steps that limit throughput. If your challenge is complex and your requirements are demanding, we’re the engineering partner ready to tackle it.

Do you integrate with existing machines and software?

Yes. We work with equipment already on your floor and connect it to whatever you run above it. Because we are a strategic partner focused on delivering results, we aren't tied to any hardware vendor. However, we are straightforward about preference: we recommend machines we have already tested and know the failure rates on, because how automation-ready a machine is changes what throughput we can commit to.

What’s your process for starting a project?

We start with a feasibility study, typically one month. You get the mechanical concept, robot and layout selection, a motion simulation, and an ROI model. From there we move to a proof-of-concept cell, then replication. Every system is signed off twice: a factory acceptance test at our facility, and a site acceptance test on your floor measuring good parts across a full 24-hour run.

How quickly can you deliver an automation system?

Four to six months from kickoff to a system running on your floor, with six months as the typical figure for a first cell. Around three of those months go into working out requirements and options with your operations team, which is the part that decides whether the system fits how you actually work rather than how the process looks on paper. When a deadline is fixed, we build the plan around it and tell you upfront what it will take to hit it.

Where is DHR Engineering based?

We have an office in New York and robotic deployment teams across the US, including El Segundo, California. Our engineering and build facilities are in Plovdiv and Sofia, Bulgaria, an EU and NATO member state. Around 90% of our customers are in the United States. Cells are assembled and tested at our facilities first, then shipped and rebuilt on your site by our deployment teams.

What support do you provide after deployment?

Every DHR customer gets a direct line to our engineers rather than a ticket queue. We have engineers and service technicians based in the US for support and emergency response. Every turnkey system includes 24 months of service, maintenance, and software updates in the purchase price, along with on-site training for your operators. When a fault needs physical work, a DHR engineer is on site within 12 hours.
